Iran’s Foreign Minister to Visit Pakistan after Border Clash

The Foreign Office of Pakistan said Iranian Foreign Minister will visit Islamabad on 29th of January, 2024. The visit comes a days after tensions heightened between the two countries after Iranian missiles hit the areas in Pakistan which was retaliated by Pakistan within 48 hours. Both the states claimed that they had hit the terrorist hideouts near border areas located in Pakistan and Iran respectively.

According to the Foreign Office of Pakistan, Iranian Foreign Minister is invited by the Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Jalil Abbas Jilan, Reuters reported.

Diplomatic pause was announced which is later being relaxed and ambassadors of both the countries asked to return their posts by January, 26.

According to Reuters, Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amir Abdollahian would visit on next Monday and its ambassador would resume duty on coming Friday.

According to news reported by Dawn, the missile strike prompted a National Security Committee (NSC) meeting which was headed by Prime of Pakistan Anwarul Haq Kakar, Cabinet Members and Chiefs of Pakistan Armed Forces.

The NSC ratified the move towards reducing tensions between the two countries and it was decided that security concerns will be addressed on the basis of mutual security.

“The forum (NSC) expressed that Iran is a neighbourly and brotherly Muslim country, and existing multiple communication channels between the two countries should be mutually utilised to address each other’s security concerns in the larger interest of regional peace and stability,” Dawn quoted the press released of Prime Minister Office.
